Towel method I just leave an old beach towel in the back. When you lean into get something, Toss that towel over the rear bumper, and your problem is solved. Additional plus is that you now have a towel to clean up spills. I'm sure that happens a lot with 3 car seats in the back!

I used the stock bolt to basically "clean out" the extra paint in the threads, and then I used the bolts from RR for final attachment. Pretty sure there was also quite a bit of WD-40 used too. Even using the stock bolt it almost felt like I was cross-threading the bolt/nut.

I had the same issues with my rocky road sliders. They sent some spacers to put in behind the lines so they would not rub on the sliders. I had to get the foot long screw driver to pry them far enough out.
