    Map lights not working

Yep--replaced with new LEDs just like the ones that were there. I had switched all interior lights to LEDs years ago and no problems for 5+ years.

    Map lights not working

Looking for ideas as a fix for this seems expensive. My map lights on the overhead console stopped working, both when the door opens or by the push-up switch. I replaced the bulbs with no luck. It's not the fuse--and the weird little "shifter light" in the middle still works. All other interior...

Pictures of my ham radio install

I'm glad the info is still useful. 5-6 years is old for a thread, but not for a 4Runner! I recently installed a rear security camera and didn't want to pull the headliner again because it is a pain. So I ran the cable in the bottom of the door sills under the plastic liner, which is easy to...

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Just installed today. I drilled the hole in the dust cap. It didn't seem right to have all that cable plus the driver box jammed in there. I'm worried already about heat dissipation, so I wanted less in contact with hot parts, especially cable. Also, I noticed my stock DRLs stopped working once...

    GoodBye 4Runner (after 8 months)

As your post illustrates, Dave Ramsey disciples are the vegans of the financial world. They might be right about much of what they so smugly intone, but goldamn are they insufferable to be around.

    Sneak Peak

I'll get the H11 Xtreme LED Pro kit. That linked article is very helpful. Seems like a good compromise between the "HIDs are bright, but just keep aiming your lights lower" crowd and those like me who think HIDs don't belong in the 4R halogen projectors. Combined with new 9005 LED driver for...

    Sneak Peak

OK. I see how this works for high beams/DRL. If one really wanted to upgrade high beams with LED, this would be nice. I wonder if the same mechanism you use to drop the brightness of the 9005 LED for DRL could be used to drop the brightness of LED kits for the low beams? I ask because your...

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Thanks. Alas, I have an iPhone so looks like Torque won't work for me. I have the TC temps all setup with a Carista adapter and OBD Fusion app. Torque looks like it has better dashboards for tracking min/max which is why I asked.

    What app is that?

Near Idaho Springs, CO. 11,000 ft (some 14ers in the background). Getting here required use of MTS in "loose rock" mode.

Towing experiences with your 5th Generation

Mission: haul a trailer of boy scout camping gear from the Denver area to Great Sand Dunes National Park for a weekend campout. While this is not a particularly challenging route by Colorado standards, I did go up and over La Veta Pass, elevation 9,400 ft. Trailer gross weight: 3,220 lbs. Also...

Do I need a dual battery setup?

True. Therefore, this thread should be ended with "So long, and thanks for all the fish."

    KO2 275/70/17 Colorado

The reason I stayed stock size with my KO2 is because the 275 KO2 is only available in E rating and thus they are 56 lbs each as opposed to the C rated 46 lb 265 size. The extra weight wasn't worth the very minimal size gain. I drive in the CO mountains all the time. I do just fine on I-70 once...

I finally found a microphone mounting solution I like. This has worked well for me even on rough roads and trails. It is just a cheap microphone hanger jammed down the console under the airbag light and secured with heavy duty double-sided tape. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
