I have a 2004 V6 4runner SR5 with about 200k miles now. I noticed recently that one of the small hoses is leaking a bit of coolant (see attached picture). It is leaking from the one under the throttle body.
Browse a bit and found GGeezer's video that shows how to remove the throttle body to...
Good point. Where do you buy these vaccum lines assuming that they are bad? I just noticed one of the water line (by the clamp) is leaking a tiny bit of coolant right in front of the engine. Had a couple of P0442 and P0456 codes popped up which forced me to replace a gas cap.
I will check...
I have cleaned the throttle body and MAF not too long ago. I have disconnected the battery over 15 minutes and reconnected it.
Looking at it again after the change, the RPM would drop closer to 500 rpm during idle (not all the time).
I have replaced the gas cap to rule out any possible leak...
My 2004 4runner V6 SR5 has 200k miles now. I had my HG replaced at 155K miles (back in 2013). Fast forward a few years later, my car would occasionally idle a bit low. Down to slightly below 800-650 rpm (which vibrates the truck a bit) and most other times are normal when idling. Putting...
I had my HG replaced a few years ago around the same mileage. A couple of months ago i had the same symptom come back as described by your email (now at 195k miles). Scared me that my 'newer' HG is failing again.
Turns out it was one of the coil so you might want to try that first. Doesn't...
Wings4pn, can you show me what i need to do with a heat gun to prevent the rubbing? Not sure where the near lock is at the front. Do you get the rub when you turn the wheels all the way?
Looks like it works on Monkey Wrench's truck without any issue. That is great to hear.
I am planning...
Hello, I just want to know if the 2017 4runner stock rims tire size 265/70/17 would be a direct fit onto my 2004 4runner SR5 V6. My current stock tire size is 265/65/16. I believe our upgraded rims for this generation of 4runner is 265/65/17. Not sure the 265/70/17 would rub in the front...
BoostinZX, i am glad you are reviving this thread as i have the similar issue still at this time. How many miles do you have on your truck? Mine was the occasion alternating P0174 and P0430 code and my current fix is to use my code reader to reset it. (had replaced one of the O2 sensors too...
2004 V6 4runner Low idle after head rebuild
BGravy, i have the same year model as your 4runner (04 4.0 V6) and had the head gasket replaced a couple of years ago. Had put on 20k miles since then. However, i am experiencing the same identical issue that you are having. I would occasionally...
Team, please help me out here. I have for a few months running my 4runner with CEL, TRAC lights on knowing that i have an issue. The codes read P0174 and P0430. Both of these codes point to Bank 2 so i will try to replace the O2 sensor first to see if it would fix the issue. I had similar...
BoostinZX , i have the same identical problem as you with the P0174 code and the list of symptom that you have. In addition, i also have code P0430 but it might go away once i fix the P0174 (i hope). I had this for a few months now and I just ignored it for a while. I have a 2004 V6 1GR-FE...
Failed Head Gasket
Year : 2004
Model: 1GR-FE V6 4runner SR5 2X4
The head gasket failed on Cylinder #6 at 155,500 miles back in 2013. Toyota doesn't want to do anything about it. I think it cost me about $3k to fix it along with spark plugs, water pump, etc.
Oh man, i thought i was in the minority when i had my head gasket problem. It was problem free from brand new (10 miles on the odometer) until it hit 155k miles. The only maintenance was brakes and oil changes from 2004 to 2014.

Thanks. I couldn't locate it in my own search but the related links in this thread brought me to a thread that answered my questions.

So to answer my own question, actual drain and refill calls for about 5...
