I have a key fob that has good electronics, but the housing has seen better days. Email me! Thanks for looking!

    Brake Job: Level of Difficulty/cost?

Measure the thickness of those old rotors, this should give you an idea of how much life was left in them. The service manual states: Std Thickness 22.0mm Min thickness 20mm (when you should replace) The pad lining min thickness is 1mm, so you still have plenty of life in them (std thickness...

    C.D. Manual is a P.O.S.

The models didn't change too much, but each manual seems to be year-specific.

    C.D. Manual is a P.O.S.

It is a good site and I think their goal is to make it a "live" reference instead of a download and forget source. I almost went crazy putting them all together. I managed to get everything downloaded in a day however. If you need all the manuals for a 2000 4Runner, let me know!

    C.D. Manual is a P.O.S.

That's what I had to do. When you do, you have to search in the subsections for it to show all the content. If you simply look at the Service Repair Manual, it'll show 200 documents. That's not the complete manual. At the top of the page when viewing the Service Manaual, for example, there's a...

    Suspension replacement?

It's the Limited. You're right about the front suspension. Even though I see 1 inch or so of clearance above the lower control arm to the bump stop, the leverage probably gives it 6+ inches before it hits the bumpstop. The rear however doesn't have this lever effect as the bump stop is...

    C.D. Manual is a P.O.S.

I downloaded a ton of files for the 2000 4Runner, there's about 80MB of them. I found a program called PDF Merge which will let me combine as many PDFs in any order together into one. The demo version leaves a link to the Merge program website, though I think I can Acrobat it out. What I can't...

    C.D. Manual is a P.O.S.

You know, if somone has the time and patience to do it... Obtain a copy of Adobe Acrobat (full version, not just the reader0. Then, using all the .pdf files append one to the other until you have one mega-file. I think that's what I'm going to do with a 3rd gen T4R manual.

Sooo close to a 2000 LTD....

Interesting that you mention that! I bought one from Carmax: 2000 LTD, 4x4 w/103k mi for $15,000. Add their 3-yr warranty and it can't be beat. I have a Honda with 90+kmi on it and don't have any problem with the mileage on the 4runner.

    What does a 2000 SR5 4R need?

You can take care of the minor things such as acc belts, fluids, plugs, ignition wires and other misc.

    shocks

Anti-roll bars (not sway bars) could make your ride slightly rougher, yet not really noticable. If you notice any excess body roll that your truck exhibits, bigger bars will reduce it. The funny thing is that on my 2000 Limited, I notice very little body roll and the stock rear anti-roll bars...

    Brake Job: Level of Difficulty/cost?

On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being rotating tires, 10 being transmission overhaul) a brake job is from a 2 to no more than a 3. I can't believe you were quoted so much for it. Get the details on what they're doing with the e-brake work. I can't imagine it being more than changing the "Y" cable and...

    Suspension replacement?

I also have a 3rd gen (2000, Limited) that rids rougher than I expected. It has 103k and was recently purchased used. I have no idea when the dampers were replaced last. I have noticed that there is very little suspension travel. In the front, I see about a 1.5inches and in the rear 2 to...
