    06 - Back hatch won't open

Battery's reading a solid 12.6V when the car's off. Maybe I will see if I can find someone else's battery to borrow real quick though.

    06 - Back hatch won't open

Small bump-up in case no one saw - since the latch is verified working correctly, and when it's not working I can't hear the switch clicking or the motor even attempting to open the latch... does that mean I should be looking at the switch? All I've seen about the switch is people having issues...

    06 - Back hatch won't open

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. I did remove the entire latch assembly from the hatch and cleaned and greased it liberally. The car has been in Texas its entire life, fortunately, so there was a lot of dirt and dust but no visible rust whatsoever. I use PB Blaster on my classic cars to loosen...

    06 - Back hatch won't open

Hello all, Having a problem with this '06 that my friend owns. The back hatch will not open most of the time. When he first got it, the solution was to unhook the battery and then reattach it. After cycling the battery like this, the back latch would open exactly once. After reading up on...

Problem child '06 SR5 - alarm randomly going off while driving?

Yes, just got to it last night actually. The alarm is an aftermarket unit, though it doesn't appear to be a hack job from what I can see up under the dash. My friend hasn't had a problem with the alarm going off since it happened the one time, so I guess that's no longer an issue (until it...

Problem child '06 SR5 - alarm randomly going off while driving?

What is the normalizing routine? I hadn't planned on disconnecting the battery or the rear hatch wiring at all (just pull out, clean with some PB Blaster, grease with white lithium, reinstall) because I was not quite sure if it would then have to be reset somehow.

Problem child '06 SR5 - alarm randomly going off while driving?

Hmm, pulling the fuse could be a last-ditch effort I suppose. The battery checks out fine, at least by my multimeter's standards. Maybe I'll see if I can do some poking around in the underdash wiring to see if anything looks fudged up. I don't think it's an aftermarket alarm though.

Problem child '06 SR5 - alarm randomly going off while driving?

Hello all, Happy to be here and a part of this forum! This is my first thread. To start off with, I'm a shadetree mechanic (I build classic cars) helping a friend with his recently-acquired '06 4Runner. It's a V6, 2WD, nothing fancy but extremely clean. 125k miles which is super, super low...

    Too much rust?

If you were to get it, consider that every time it needed work, the mechanics would have to charge you extra labor to knock that rust loose... and they would likely break other stuff while trying to get to the part that they need to replace. With that much rust, you're looking at busted bolts...

After Market Rims and Tires messing up alignment?

Agree that it is not the wheels/tires that're affecting your caster. First thing first, I'd go get your new wheels/tires balanced since it sounds like they wouldn't even do that. Just to make sure that the wheels aren't out of round or anything crazy - in which case you'd have to send them back...

Simple question about Plastic Dipping wheel

If you prep it well it'll hold up better, but yes, that's pretty much the issue you'll run into. However, you may be able to mitigate the problem by plastidipping the rims, then placing the lugs on the wheels (with the wheel still off the car), tracing around it, and using an Xacto knife to...
