I noticed that the Diode Dynamics bulbs are failing now. Of course about 6 months out of warranty. I may buy more though. 3.5 years and almost 50K miles isn't terrible.

My system has been functioning normally since my trip to the dealer. I assume clearing the codes "fixed" it for a while. It'll probably work until just after the 3yr/36K warranty expires. :fear: I will certainly check the microphone the next time it happens. It sure seems like this 4Runner...

Oh, I agree. When I first left the dealer on Friday, it was back to a green light. A few hours later, neither light on after the self test. When you press the SOS button with the green light on, it makes a call and asks if you need help. If you say no, it gives you some other options...

Thank you trapshot68 for posting the FSM link! My '22 has always had an e-brake that doesn't really engage unless the pedal was pushed all the way to the floor. The '17 that it replaced worked more as expected. We bought both new, so neither had ever been adjusted outside of the factory...

The problem is how Toyota has these wired. They ran two regular light bulbs in series to make them dimmer. As far as I know, there aren't any plug and play LEDs that work well in this environment.

It's tempting, but without understanding all of the variations available from Toyota, I'd be concerned about some kind of "unintended consequence" issue cropping up. :flame:

That explains it. I was confused about the wires labeled (*13, *15) that I didn't remember seeing on my 4Runner!

I'd say it depends on what kind of signal they're sending to the LED units to change them to high beam. I'm pretty sure there's a solenoid operated shutter in them that lifts up to open the top part of the lens. If it's just a "send 12VDC (or Ground) to the light during high beam operation"...

I talked to Diode Dynamics today, and it sounds like the HP48 may fit the bill. He seems to think that at full power, it might be about equivalent to the 9005s running at half power. This sounds like the half a$$ performance I'm looking for for this application. :D I'll post more when I get...
