TRD fell off the grid the last few years. These guys used to have a supercharger and 304 stainless headers for the 3rd gen, (granted headers made by Doug thorley). I guess CA emissions got them by the balls.
I am waiting a few more months for this supercharger. I don't wheel this truck...
I am an MD and this is the third 4runner I've owned, (2 third gens, an FJ and a 5th gen). Love these vehicles and have no complaints with one exception - they are anemic. All my prior vehicles were supercharged with smaller pulleys and fuel upgrades. The 5th gen has a bit more pep but if TRD...
I had the same problem on my 07 FJ. Sanded off what I could and hit the majority of the undercarriage with high temp BBQ grill Rustoleum flat black - great stuff and cheap to touch up spots that pop up later.
As folks mentioned earlier in other threads, surface rust is really not a big deal...
The 5th gen is anemic... As was the 4th gen... As was the 3rd gen... And so on and so on.
That is the only thing I truly dislike and can't stand about this vehicle. This was easily addressed in the past with the TRD supercharger and smaller aftermarket pulley. If TRD and Gadget decide not...
WTF???
I will be trading my 2010 in for the 2014... under one condition... they remove that ridiculous front bumper and headlights and install my 2010 bumper and headlights free of charge. Honestly, I think this is what a lot of us may end up doing.
This front end came out of nowhere...
I had the Volk TE37x's on my FJ and have been looking for a similar set for my SR5. Check the wheel for sale section.
BFD's are almost identical knock offs of the Volk TE37's in the exact same fitment at a fraction of the cost...
Absolutely!
On my FJ I had a road armor front bumper, ICON 3" coilover lift, camburg UCA's, rock rails, skids, 33" procomps, the whole deal... All of which had a much larger impact on my MPG than the supercharger with smaller pulley. Pic attached.
