    4runner battery

Panasonics Have a Good Record You are not alone. I've heard of many Yota owners whose Panasonics lasted longer than most other brands. Typically one would be lucky to have a battery last 5 years.

How Charging System Works and Troubleshooting, 22R-E

May I suggest you go to my thread on Yotatech? My photos disappeared on thie thread and T4R does not allow simple and direct attachment of photos. Complicates things because one has to upload to photo host, and take URL from that to insert into the T4R posts). Thread is here: How Charging...

    87 power loss?

Yotatech. First gen owners are more active there. Use "google' search option. The other options are lame and will give you irrelevant results.

How Charging System Works and Troubleshooting, 22R-E

Please clarify exactly what is (are) the problem(s) now. Cranking, firing and dying? Blown 80-Amp fusible link? The best upgrade is inspecting, cleaning and tightening all connections. Have you done that? There is really no need to upgrade wiring, especially with today's energy efficient...

Question: Showers on Long Off-Road Trips; T4R5G

Keep it Simple Keep it simple and use the money you save to buy more gasoline. Shower bag, No-rinse body wash all good. Shower from Bucket At developed campgrounds sometimes there's too much drama with coin-operated stuff, things break or you run out of coins, etc. I just boil water, mix...

Charging and power storage project for my 99 4runner

I believe that Redarc relay has a manual bypass switch option where you energize the relay to connect the cranking and house batteries. Therefore, IF you pick the relay, wiring and fuses to handle cranking amps, you could simply turn the bypass on and jump-start with 2 batteries combined.

Charging and power storage project for my 99 4runner

I just use a Voltage Sensitive Isolator Relay That simpler RedArc system should work on your 3rd -gen. DC-to-DC charger is really only needed IF you are running solar OR if you are running other than lead-acid (AGM is still lead-acid) chemistry, OR if you have "smart" alternator like the...

    Keep blowing brake light fuse

A problem well-stated is a problem solved. Care to clarify what is really blowing? Brake light fuse as in your post title, or tail light fuse as in your description? Those are two different fuses supplying different circuits. However, title says "Keep blowing brake light fuse" This step ^^^...

Does it Sound Like the Starter Relay is Failing?

Right on! Guitars are fun. I installed Texas Specials on friend's Standard (Mexico-made) Fender Stratocaster, and we called it Jalapeño Special. :)

Does it Sound Like the Starter Relay is Failing?

He means the thick battery cable from battery negative to the engine block. That is how the starter motor and the starter solenoid get their ground. As in any connection, it is always good to make sure you have bare, shiny metal tightly against bare, shiny metal.

Does it Sound Like the Starter Relay is Failing?

Are you sure the click is the starter solenoid (piggybacked on the starter motor)? Is the click ENERGETIC? If it is and motor still does not crank, more likely the solenoid contacts are worn out, or battery and ground connections to starter are corroded or loose.. Ground is from thick battery...
