3VZ 2nd Gen Questions from Aus

Hey Guys, Got a few issues with my 92 3VZ-E 4Runner. I've got a large oil leak that I'm 90% sure is a rear main. How many hours is required to change the rear main seal? I've had the engine rebuilt 13000kms ago and it's been leaking a heap worse ever since about 6000kms when I changed from...

Clicking/Grinding when front RH hub engaged

mine started immediately after the rock step incident, and I've also replaced the whole driveshaft, including upper and lower CVs. maybe something broke off in the hub, possibly a circlip or something? is there any way to isolate the problem without pulling the hub apart? when doing the hub...

Clicking/Grinding when front RH hub engaged

Hey Guys, I've got a number of issues with my 2nd Gen that I need to get sorted to I can put it on the market. The main one is as follows: Last time I went wheeling I was doing a rocky track and reckon I lifted a wheel and heard a big crunch. I was having a fair crack at the time, was really...

    Brake light keeps coming on

Maybe the side oftye float has some gunk on it and like you mentioned, it could be sticking down. I'll give it a clean this weekend and see what I can work out. Cheers

    Brake light keeps coming on

ok fellas, I've topped it up with fluid, i've looked at all the wires that I can see, I've moved the handbrake in and out and it doesn't make a difference (handbrake was also adjusted when the rear brakes were done). I also had my brake joint look at it while they were doing a wheel alignment...

    Brake light keeps coming on

Hi, I've got a 2nd gen V6. My brake light started coming on, faintly at first, then brghter and more often until it's pretty much always on now. I've have the front brakes done a few months ago, the rear brakes done a month ago, and there's plenty of brake fluid. Could it be a loose wire...

What gen is the best for off-roading?

They don't build em like you used to.... 1st and 2nd gen you have a chance to fix if something goes wrong. you can get to the engine, and you can modify without electrical nightmares. I agree with 04rnr. I could go further than most of you newer owners in my 2nd gen because I don't care about...

    Brake Warning Light coming on?

OK, so after spending $680 yesterday getting rear shoes, machined drums, new wheel bearings and seals (it was gear oil leaking) and all the rear brakes adjusted up properly, my brake warning light is still coming on. My front brakes had new pads and a full adjustment a few months ago. It must...

Just discovered another problem on my yota..

When you put it in 4H or 4L did you lock the hubs in? Try this on a gravel lot as stated above. It is possible if it hasn't been put in 4wd for 10 years that you will need to have the cv's greased, front diff oil changed etc. I would definately suggest if you need to ask what a CV is, then...

    Brake Warning Light coming on?

Hey mate, Well I loosened the handbrake and it seemed to fix it till tonight. It also has plenty of brake fluid in the reservoir so it's got me stuffed. I gave the leak a proper wash and it doesn't look as bad as I thought but it might be gear oil. Would that be an issue on my brakes?

    Fishing pole transport

I've done numerous things since I got pulled up for my bullbar mounted rod holder. I can fit two two piece rods between the rear headrests and the cargo barrier. can zip tie them in place if needed. But normally they just go on top of everything else. Before I had a cargo barrier I would zip...
