What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I did the 231mm Tundra brake upgrade. It' makes a HUGE difference in stopping power. I don't know why it didn't come with these brakes stock.

Can anyone tell me the length of stock(not lifted) front coil springs?

The 3rd Gen All Questions Allowed Thread

Does anyone know a good source for electrical fittings? The previous owner thought it was a good idea to cut and splice with cheap butt connectors instead of using the factory plug. I need one specifically for the abs speed sensor. I have a brand new sensor and I really don't want to cut the...

Thanks for confirming my original suspicion. I ended up using my die grinder VERY carefully to zip off the very tips of the splines. IT WORKED! It still went in a little too tight but with some light tapping with a rubber mallet, it made its way home.

I did use a file and that didn't work. I cleaned it very thoroughly with a wire brush on an angle grinder.

I think you must be correct about this. I was very careful not to damage the splines but I did not cover them with anything while I was using the press.

Yes because I wanted to eliminate the possibility of the abs/retaining ring be in the way and to confirm it is the splines not sliding. Everything I searched suggested the ring was not seated properly. I already have the entire housing on the bench so it didn't take much to remove the 3rd and...

I fully understand this. I'm trying to diagnose why the axle won't slide in.

Looking to buy a Forester or 4Runner

I have had both Toyota 4runner and Subaru Forrester. I do all the work on my own cars, so I can't comment on the service. As far as reliability, assuming things are maintained properly, I can say with certainty that the Toyota will break less often. That being said, the Subaru is generally...

Anyone get much past 300k on a 3rd gen 4runner?

Mine has 367k right now. Still going strong but I am currently restoring the undercarriage. VT salt did a number on it.

**Rear Coil Spring Discussion - The Perfect 3rd Gen Rear Spring**

I don't do much off-road stuff, I use mine more as a "truck" for hauling. I don't need a lift, I just need it to be a comfortable ride with the capability of towing a fairly large trailer. I have considered installing airbags in the springs. What do you guys think of this?
