    Disconnect active headrest

Thanks for all of the replies. I would have to agree with most of you, it's really not worth it, and that's something that would always be kind of be hanging over my head, with the whole "what if" scenario. You are correct that I've become somewhat desperate, and almost willing to try...

    Disconnect active headrest

Yes, I believe all 5th gen 4runners have them. It's a paddle that the lumbar frame in the seat is connected to. It makes the back of the drivers seat stick out at the bottom. The foam is only about an inch thick there and gets uncomfortable within about 10 minutes of driving. I've tried every...

    Disconnect active headrest

Regarding seat problems... What is everyone's opinion of disabling the active headrest altogether. I've been told by a few members on here that that's what they did. If you disconnect the cable that runs between the upper and lower headrest units, then the bottom of the seat can be collapsed...

Front Passenger Seat Comfort... aint there

This. It's more of a plastic plate rather than a bag. And the entire frame it's mounted to, along with the paddle for the active headrest, sticks out right there. There are a few threads on this, some of which I started. I haven't found a solution yet.

4 Months in- still having seat problems

What is everyone's opinion of disabling the active headrest altogether. I've been told by a few members on here that that's what they did. If you disconnect the cable that runs between the upper and lower headrest units, then the bottom of the seat can be collapsed and the paddle will no longer...

    Front seats uncomfortable

Just curious, how exactly did you disconnect it. I didn't see a way to disconnect the cable that runs between the upper headrest unit and the lower actuator. Also, why wouldn't you consider it a safety system. My hesitation of modifying it would be not only the risk of further injury in an...

Front Passenger Seat Comfort... aint there

I have the same problem, only also with the driver seat. It was said that this topic has been beaten to death, which it has come up in several different threads. I've read through all of them including one on the GX forum and one on the Rav4 forum, however there never seems to be a solution...

4 Months in- still having seat problems

Well, I went to the dealer and sat in an SR5 with cloth; A trail with cloth and an SR5P with softex and they all pretty much felt the same as mine. maybe a bit softer being brand new, but overall they certainly didn't make mine seem like there's something wrong.....other than the design itself...

4 Months in- still having seat problems

I do notice it in the passenger seat, but to a much lesser degree than the driver seat. Possibly because there is no lumbar in the passenger seat. I have yet to make it to a dealer to sit in a another new 4runner. I know all of the seats are the same, but I would like to find the same model...

4 Months in- still having seat problems

Thanks for the reply, I understand about the lumbar. I, am not a fan of lumbar in most vehicles. I am still having this issue even with the lumbar all of the way off. this is the bottom edge of the lumbar frame, so changing the lumbar makes no difference.

4 Months in- still having seat problems

A friend of mine, who is heavier than you broke one of my kitchen chairs not that long ago... it happens and it was funny. He felt bad though. I guess the next stop would be the dealer to look at another 4runner. I have to find out if something is wrong, or if it's just they way the seat is...

4 Months in- still having seat problems

Does this look normal to everyone? I was hoping some people with 2015 models could chime in. I just find it strange that this has been brought up in other threads, but is seems that it's only a very small percentage of people that have this problem. I'm a little reluctant to go to the dealer...

4 Months in- still having seat problems

Thanks for all of the replies so far, I really appreciate them. I really don't think I would ever even consider replacing seats, due to the air bags and non OEM look, resale, etc. As far as the belt goes... Wake, maybe I should just take it off like you did, it is noticeably better without it...

4 Months in- still having seat problems

Thanks for the replies. I'm 5'10 200lbs, certainly could get in better shape...but it's not like I weigh 400lbs. Maybe I should let them break in more I guess? I've driven a lot of vehicles and never had this problem before. I've looked at other seat designs on various other forums, and they...

4 Months in- still having seat problems

2015 SR5P bought new in June. I am still having major seat problems where the lower edge of the lumbar plate and active headrest plate dig into my lower back causing severe back pain. The truck has 2700 miles on it and every time I drive it, even for 15 minutes I can't wait to get to where I'm...
