I just wanna make note that some replacement LBJ's can be greased. The boot itself has a nipple like spot that has a slit that allows grease to come out. I cant tell from your pic but if yours are grease able. Its possible that your mechanic greased them and as your ball joint moves during...
Is it possible you bent the seal installing it? Or maybe it was bent to begin with. There fairly easy to bend if its not centered good while driving it in.A slight bend in the metal part of the seal could cause the seal to be slightly out of round. I would take the cv out and check. Probably...
Get a good set of jack stands. Harbor freight has some 6 tons for fairly cheap. Get the wheels up off the ground. Have a buddy get in and drive it while you look underneath from the side. I would imagine you will see some kind of play somewhere really quick.
I remeber another thread awhile back with similar issues. The Op of that thread replaced about everything before finding his crank sensor wasnt fully plugged in. Might be worth checking. I think he had multiple misfires and lean codes also.
If you put it in reverse and give it gas, does it rev up like its in neutral or like your brakes are pressed? Sounds to me like it isnt going into reverse right away possibly from the fluid being cold and not having enough psi to engage the clutch packs? Are you starting it and throwing it in...
Have someone turn the steering wheel while your under there and see if you can hear where its coming from. Side to side play could also be bad steering rack bushings. You might even see the rack moving while someone turns the wheel.
Sometimes if you cant pin point the noise by ear you can...
Im guessing your gas gauge isnt reading correctly. Does it drop noticeable mainly from half a tank to quarter? Have you filled up and calculated your mpgs from a full tank since? Possibly just have a bad fuel sending unit.
My thoughts on it is your mechanic has a valid point. However the clearances for the crank journals and bearings are somewhere in the thousanths of an inch or something like that. I dont know the specs off hand. The crank will rotate on the oil in this tight clearance and when you shut off the...
For those of you that have been running the poly bushings, do you think they are as good as the OEM rubber bushings or better? If price and the extra work involved installing were not a factor. Which one would you use?
I would try to bang around underneath after driving it long enough to where the noise is consistent. I wanna say I've had a heat shield near the catalytic converter rattling before. Also I've seen bad cats on bmws rattle. Try banging around underneath with a rubber mallet and see if anything...
I'm running 275-60/20 which is a 33 so it should be similar to the 285s. I currently have 4.10 gears. I think the main reason for the mixed opinions is the vast difference in location people drive...
Does the new coil pack come with the boot that connects to the spark plug? I have seen these go bad on bmws. Also spectre mentioned disconnecting spark plug wires one by one to see if and when the misfire stays the same. This will at least narrow it down to a particular cylinder. And are you...
I dont have any experience with this swap myself but i wonder if the master cylinders are swappable from the tundras or sequioa(i think this was a fix for them also for rotor warping) to the 3rd gens. The master cylinders in tundras and sequioas may push more fluid then ours. Ive read of people...
