Gound Clearance with 2-3 inch lift

Uh, yeah--it's amazing, but it's the nature of this forum. We all know what we can do if we don't like it, don't we?

Gound Clearance with 2-3 inch lift

FWIW, I also know where you're coming from. The trails here in Western Colorado & Eastern Utah (Moab area) are full of rocks. On the first off-road excursion in our 2014 TE with KDSS, I bashed the heck out of the stock skid plate, as KDSS trucks have less ground clearance in the front...

    2016 Tundra TRD PRO Quicksand

Folks in the desert--like here in Western Colorado--will LOVE that color. Instant camo!

    5th gen mud flaps.

Indeed, there are various flaps, depending on which model (Limited, Trail, SR5) you have. All have different part numbers. You need to know which flaps will fit your 4Runner. They're quite easy to install if they are the correct ones. A complete set from Toyota should include any necessary...

Told I need new tire at 1200 miles, opinions?

Which is precisely why no shop will fix that tire for him. It's easier to buy a new tire. Less risky too.

What's wrong with Yokohama Geolandar AT/S tires?

I had some several years ago on a Ford Ranger. Good traction--great in rain or snow--quiet at first--quickly wore down though. The worst thing was that after 10K miles, they got horribly loud, like a banshee howling. So loud that the Discount Tire where I bought them gave me almost full-value...

    Do you recommend aftermarket navigation?

We have an older Garmin, and we STILL prefer to use it instead of the factory NAV in our 4Runner OR our 2015 Highlander. Easier to use and at least as accurate. Plus, updates are cheap or free--depending on which Garmin you buy. There are a multitude of options out there for mounting the...

    Gas mileage on lifted 2015

Same here. 2.5" spacer lift, along with an RCI skid plate & Rocky Road sliders. Running Wrangler Duratracs in the stock size. Haven't noticed any significant decrease in gas mileage with these mods.

    DuraTrac owners

Um, no, that's one of the PLUGS he mentioned. If you're NOT carrying plugs in your off-road box, WE will be the folks laughing at you when you get a flat and wish that you did have them.

What Sliders Can you run with KDSS?

Rocky Road Outfitters in Utah. Nicely built, powder coated, and fit well--nice & tucked up.

What Sliders Can you run with KDSS?

I also have Rocky Road sliders on our 2014 TE with KDSS. The right side install was super-easy. The left side took quite a bit longer as there is one bracket that interferes slightly with the KDSS piping, requiring the removal of the clamp bolts on the pipes; some slight tweaking of the pipes...

    Rocky Road Outfitters Super Sliders

That's exactly what I did on my '14 TE and because the holes don't line up perfectly, those self-tapping bolts actually seemed to work OK. They tightened up fine. I'll know how well they hold once I smack a few rocks with the sliders.

Burning rubber smell right rear fender well.

I'm glad to know that this burnt rubber smell a) is a common issue, and b) that it seems to NOT be a problem that needs fixing. I've only noticed it a couple of times on our '14 TE, and tried to see if anything was amiss, but never discovered the source of the smell. I'll stop worrying about...

    DuraTrac owners

Our Duratracs hum slightly at about 55-60 mph. At higher speeds, like 70-75, the hum disappears. The hum isn't obnoxious or overwhelming--it's just there. Not a problem.

    8 Speakers vs. 15 Speakers

FWIW, in addition to our 2014 Trail Edition, our 2nd car is a new 2015 Highlander Limited Platinum with the full JBL treatment. I'm NOT saying that the 4Runner Limited JBL isn't good, 'cuz I just don't know, but I AM gonna say that the 8-speaker system in our 4Runner sounds MUCH better than the...
