SR5. I like to sit upright, and it was the only trim available at the time without a sunroof, thus giving me adequate headroom. And it can go anywhere I want to go (some very tough FS roads and the like, but not serious rock crawling). Wife also preferred the suspension for on road.

What are you towing? If over 2500 lbs, a weight distribution hitch is highly advised. I regularly tow a 3750 lb trailer and use the Andersen hitch, which I highly recommend. Lightweight and easy to set up for a weight distribution hitch with anti-sway, height adjustable.

Realized solar wouldn't be reliable since we often come back to snow cover. I would never be without booster cables. But that's not something you look forward to in the snow and subfreezing. I think a disconnect switch might make the most sense.

Thanks all. Battery tender isn't an option at the airport. Solar charger is an interesting thought. Probably just disconnect. But disconnecting and reconnecting in snow covered subzero conditions isn't going to be fun. Maybe the cutoff switch.

Am I correct that D and S5 shift positions drive exactly the same? The only difference being S5 takes more shifts to get to and D has those wonderful eco lights and eco graphs (that's sarcasm, in case it didn't come through in writing).
