How common is this issue in 4th Gens? I am looking into 4th Gens and just want to get an idea of common issues to look out for.

That is an awesome and hilarious pic. That aspect ratio is messed up and it looks like a stiff breeze could topple it over :)

I believe it did work. We also have an '07 Corolla, which replaced a '00 Corolla, that died for the reasons you describe. All research I could find online pointed to the problem being fixed. It has 126k miles now and shows no signs of burning oil like the '00.
