    Thermostat question?

I never paid attention to temperature of the lower radiator hose before but I drove home from work today, 20 miles of freeway, and checked the temperature of the lower radiator hose when I got home and it was cold (relatively speaking). Is this normal or does this sound like a thermostat...

    Thermostat question?

Hi all, I think I may have the symptoms of a stuck thermostat? The original reason I started looking at the thermostat was because it sounded like I had air in the heater core lines when I start the vehicle. It makes a gurgling sound for about ten seconds and then goes away. I thought I would...

New Cooper Discoverer AT3s with pics

Thanks for the input. I did get the air pressure dialed in. Drove in and out of the garage onto the wet driveway a few times to get the contact patch right. Ended up with 33psi front and 31psi rear, that’s also with no other weight in the truck (but myself), which is about 80% of my driving...

New Cooper Discoverer AT3s with pics

Hi guys, Two weeks ago(and about 800 miles) I put on a set of the Cooper AT3’s and couldn’t be happier. I was worried about the noise at highway speeds…but I can’t tell any difference from the Michelin Cross Terrains I replaced. Great road manners and for the light off roading I do, they work...

    Floor jack question?

Thanks for the help everyone. Takeaway from this thread…even if you don’t know jack…use jack stands. Never trust just the jack! After shopping around a few places, I ended up buying an Arcan XL325R from Costco. Looks pretty heavy duty, weighs a lot (about 100lbs.), but it rolls around really...

    Floor jack question?

Wow, great timing…I’m stopping at Costco on my way home tonight, I’ll take a look. The last time I saw a floor jack at Costco I think it was a Snap-On branded model. I looked at the max. height of the aluminum model and wondered the same thing, but it sure beats the 4 or 5 in stroke of the...

    Floor jack question?

It's the Harbor Freight 1.5 ton Aluminum on sale for $89 and $59 with coupon that is in the back of almost every magazine I read. Aluminum Floor Jack - 1.5 Ton Aluminum Racing Jack I want to replace the bottle jack I’ve been using for 25 years. Nothing wrong with bottle jacks, I just want...

    Floor jack question?

Speaking of floor jacks…do you think a 1.5 ton floor jack be sufficient for doing oil changes and tire rotations on the 4Runner? What tonnage floor jacks do most of you have? I found a sweet deal on a 1.5 ton aluminum jack, that I think would do the job. I figure I’m only lifting 25% of the...

Wet driver's side floor (under mat)

Just an idea...did you check the drain holes in the bottom of the (driver) doors?

    TruStart vs NAPA replacement battey

I also have never had a battery tested, I always drove until they failed or almost failed…not rocket science in frozen tundra. I happened to inherit a free oil change at the Toyota dealer, and as a courtesy (to sell me something) they checked the condition of the battery, (which I still think...

    4runner maintenance questions

Just my two cents...make sure the drain holes at the bottom of the doors and especially the rear tailgate are open and functioning. Takes five mintues with a zip tie...bust out the mud and crud...cheap insurance.

If you were to use just one Grease...

For performance Mystic JT-6 Synthetic Blend grease is hard to beat and the price makes it a no-brainer...great stuff!

    TruStart vs NAPA replacement battey

Thanks for all the great input. The battery is original to my '05 and I had it tested at the Toyota dealer a couple weeks ago. I had no idea it was "marginal" as they call it. The said it wasn't an emergency, but it should be replaced sooner, then later. I do a lot of late fall/early winter...

Caliper Slide Pins bring on the ARGH!!!!

I know the NAPA caliper slide pins come yellow zinc coated (most replacement brake hardware is zinc coated for this purpose). I bought a set of extras in case I couldn’t get the old ones out. I took a lot of persuading but eventually they broke loose, I used a little heat (be careful around the...

    TruStart vs NAPA replacement battey

Just curious… When I buy a replacement battery, other then Toyota’s, someone was mentioning the terminals are reversed? I’m not sure I’d have enough battery cable to cross to the other side…or can I pull some slack up from the underneath?
