    2021 specialty TRD color?

Wait I thought the 6th gen is coming out soon (2021)? Where did you read this? if this is true that is comical, this truck is so outdated its embarrassing given the cost.

    Anyone install a Midland MXT275 in a 5th gen?

No, they arent threaded. Just flat washers, but you need wide ones with a small hole. I did use washers on the other side i think it was a while ago. Sorry, i do not remember the parts list, all i did was take the screw to the ace hardware and use thier nuts and washer display. My biggest...

Is there a way to improve 5th gens "feel" of the road?

Fantastic answers guys from some who are clearly knowledgeable. Again, I definitely don't expect the darn thing to be sporty haha but glad others know exactly what i am talking about.

Is there a way to improve 5th gens "feel" of the road?

Well my Audi (2001) is 16 years older than my truck and feels a lot better so I think its more engineering and components than tech. ;-) But yeah to have the priveladge of two vehicles would be great!

Is there a way to improve 5th gens "feel" of the road?

Quoting myself, as i did a search and found people explaining it way more. ANd the analogy is way better than my terribly unsafe example. ;-) hyundai - what is exactly steering feedback? - Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Stack Exchange In auto parlance at the high end its called "Dynamic...

Is there a way to improve 5th gens "feel" of the road?

H, I expected some answer like "there is no problem" but the issue isn't wandering. My 4runner drives straight as an arrow. I can even take my hands safety off the wheel momentarily and on a smooth highway it drives straight. Its FEEL of the road - as in literally, you can feel the pull of...

Question on the 4Runner's Crash Test Results?

Statistically in objective numbers sure, but this is a fallacy when applied to the individual. I would have zero chance of commuting suicide (controllable) therefore my risk is zero. This makes my individual/subjective risk of dying in an accident 100% greater than my risk of suicide. :-)

Is there a way to improve 5th gens "feel" of the road?

The stock 5th gen has very poor steering feel of the road, so its relatively easy to accidentally sway into other lanes. I LOVE the 4Runner, but its my biggest complaint of the vehicle as it really could be a safety issue. If this could somehow be improved, I would invest a lot in order to do...

TRD Skid plates versus aftermarkets of same thickenss/material

If the TRD Pro skidplate is 1/4 aluminum, is there any reason why an aftermarket skidplate would be stronger? 1/4-in thick aluminum seems like it would be the same as any other 1/4 inch aluminum. And i know none of us are materials engineers, but maybe based on experience.

Aftermarket bumpers, air bags, and collision concerns

And actually you risk the frame. Frame damage/twisting versus a crashed in front bumper is the difference between a $3K repair and a $12K repair, and add airbag deployment on top of that. AND any medical injuries from such a deployment (which are very common - they save your life but mess you...

Aftermarket bumpers, air bags, and collision concerns

Yeah I decided for exactly this reason its a no go for me. 90% is on road, and I decided its not worth it to risk messing with the Toyota Engineers in this area.

Aftermarket bumpers, air bags, and collision concerns

The ability for a modern vehicle to absorb impact is incredible. Especially damage to the frame if less than 30 MPG. But we throw bumpers on like its no big deal. I was just about to purchase one, but then it occurred to me that if I were to get a aftermarket bumper, if I were to get into an...

    Anyone install a Midland MXT275 in a 5th gen?

I got it. Works well. Put it on the A-Pillar, although I learned from a guy who knows what he was talking about the way radios and attenaes work that Midland is "stretching" the actual specs a bit.

    2022 6th gen is coming

Haha, close. ;-) I put a deposit on my Cybertruck day 1. (Even posted in here about it). In 2 years time with Ford, Rivian, tesla, and other companies making electrics we are going to see some seriously cool stuff. At first people will gripe until they see the light. Digital photography...

    2022 6th gen is coming

Haha, I hear you, but not sure 95% of other people and their wallets will agree. Just the fact we are on an automobile related message board makes us a small group, and the fact its 4RUnner related is even more of a unique subculture. In fact the last 10 years has seen massive innovation...
