Ok i exhaust wrapped the crossover pipe as part of the heatshield was missing and the revs have increased by 500rpm. I know that higher exhaust temps mean lower gas density which = faster exit of gases. But does the 3rd gen v6's detect exhaust temperatures? I am totally baffled as it looks...

That was lucky the belt did not slip completely off and destroy the engine(EDIT non interferance engine my bad). My situation got better after playing with the exhaust then worse, then better and then worse again thats why i dont think its anything to do with the crank plus the dealership...

Problem is nothing has changed inside the exhaust system and she was revving all the way in the summer the only thing that has changed is the one half of the heat shield of the crossover pipe rusted off.

Now the truck wont rev above 2.2k. First time i started it up for a month and revs to 2.5k cold but once warm wont go above 2.2k. Anybody got any ideas all Toyota dealership can do is suggest ecu replacement!!!!! They cant find the solution!!!!

Also it has full power up until 3k and runs superb. I have to feather the throttle and sometimes reach 3.5k but it normally kicks back.

It starts to miss at 3k when revving slowly then if you rev it harder it kicks back. Its had new maf and o2 sensors.
