I took her (91 t4r, auto, six cyl) to the shop and they did a complete rebuild; twice! replaced the dash guage cluster (some...

    Greetings and let's get started!

Hello all. This forum has been a blessing for my little 4runners health for a very long time. Now there's a new chapter. My 1991 4Runner 2wd has finally dropped the transmission. 250k miles and she gave up the ghost. It seems that my runner has 4wd front hubs and bearings, just no drive...

    1991 t4r tailgate window problems

This little box will come in handy some day I am sure of that. *update*After troubleshooting for some time, I unplugged the sensor at the top of the tailgate, drivers side. I jumpered the connector and voila, the cargo light worked. Curiosity then prompted another try with the window and it too...

    1991 t4r tailgate window problems

Thanks klab. I am using this setup to work out the problems correctly. Someone should just sell this device already made. When the window is in the up position it is hard to get anything done without the assistance of another person to work the key or switch. Very handy indeed! I put my switch...

    1991 t4r tailgate window problems

Holy Cow! Could it get any worse? My tailgate window will not go down. Common problem as I am to find out. Okay, I replaced the control module with a known good unit. No go. I replaced the motor with a new one. No go. Now what? As a side note; I found a pair of wires on drivers side inside gate...

Wow! Thanks for the info. As for what type of wheelin. I have some practical experience over the years offroad. No rock crawling but some seriously good fun. I mostly want to be able to pack everything in the T4R (incl wife) and hit the road. We have seen some offroad adventures and trips on TV...

And you made reference to a mild lift. Is that a suspension lift, body lift, both? What are the prcticalities of "lifts" I understand I think that body lifts are for tire/mechanical clearance issues and suspension lifts are for performance? Is that correct? Who builds the best lift components...

Thanks for the advice. Since i am sourcing 4wd parts anyways, and I agree that a donor 4wd is the smart way to go, what about shocks and options here. I am really trying to plan this thing smart, and do all of the work necessary as it progresses and not continually tear down and add on, just to...

It's a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut. Listen. In order to maintain air-speed velocity, a swallow needs to beat its wings forty-three times every second, right? Am I right?

Gentlemen (and I use that term loosely) I am looking now for a tranny, transfer and axle solution. I would like to put some big Dana'a under it but then of course I would need a motor to turn them, (?)and things just keep growing from there. (not that I am opposed to an engine swap in this...

Hello everybody. I am new to the forum. After visiting many forums I decided to land here based on the skill level, enthusiasm and comradry I have seen from most everybody. Here's my story; I enherited a 1991 Toyota 4 Runner. 4 door, two wheel drive SR5 V6 automatic. The little truck is super...
