I'd probably look at removal instructions and try removing it and putting back on after. You may find some clips are broken and need to be replaced and something could be bend or something like that preventing it from going back into place.

I had a similar issue and had to tie the lever in the open position then sat down in the back and kicked the door open from the inside.

do you have a center speaker? if so pop off the grill and you may find a circular piece has come loose, glue it back on and put the cover back. careful with the grill, its a bit fragile, if you have a retainer clip removal tool I would recommend using that at the front of the grill to pop it up.

yes, check the lines first. had one bust a little while ago, very easy for fluid to leak out quickly in that scenario.

No visible leaks could be a sign of head gasket, sorry to say... However if there is a significant amount of loss you should be seeing white smoke out the exhaust from my experience. Could buy a block tester to determine.

I broke mine into 2 separate drawers with a middle piece providing additional support.

Looking to do the same and have the same question, did you end up doing the swap? If so were you able to successfully do a straight up swap or did you have to replace the innards with your existing hatch?

Had mine done by an independent shop for around $3500 Canadian. Heads machined and all. Just a note mine wasn't discovered until I started getting rough idles on start and blowing white smoke out exhaust. If you aren't experiencing those yet you're probably fine for a little bit. No regret...

check your diff breather as well, I had similar issue and was most likely due to seized breather and had to replace. if yours is the same replacing that should buy you some time, simple replacement.

Had this happen a few years ago and had the same thoughts, went with number 2 and had the head gaskets replaced by a shop, also had it machined (probably a good idea). Trying to sell it in that condition I just figured would be tough and didn't want to deal with that or being underhanded by...
