Based on current evidence, a 3rd gen 4runner will be super reliable and last a long time with all grades of gas. Buy what you like and what is available.

I prefer the western slope of CO but I'm biased. Check out the alpine loop in the San Juans. 1 of the most awesome trails I've driven and can be done with a stock truck in good weather.
Mine that was squeaky was the rear driveshaft double carton joint. It had a zerk but the sound came back shortly after greasing. Im assuming it was dry for too long and damaged. I replaced the whole rear driveshaft for ~$100 with a donor driveshaft in great shape. It was like 8 bolts or so to...
