We mount our tent to open on the driver's side since it is easier for the driver to see and optimally position the rig so that the tent will open out onto clear/flat ground.

Two 4Runners in AK here; we've never had this issue even in subzero temps.

I'm definitely interested in one of these for my '06. I like the looks of the angled one on the second gen Tacoma shown above, that style would look slick on '06-'09 4Runners.

I like those switchblade style fobs, but having the panic button exposed on the side like that makes me think it'll get activated accidentally when jingling around in pockets with other keys and such. Let us know how it works long term, it would be nice to streamline my key ring a bit.

Now that looks interesting. I bet most offroaders wouldn't lament the loss of solid axles so much if they were replaced with something like that.

I don't think that the 25W heating pads would do much of anything, especially on the valve covers (most block heaters are in the range of ~700W and have direct contact with the coolant). The oil pan would be a much more effective place to install a heating pad, and I'd go with 100W or greater...

I just have the stock rack, but my cheap Totron light bar has been through many "touchless" car washes and hasn't had any issues with water intrusion. I'd definitely avoid any type of non-touchless car wash, they are known to eat up racks and lights as the thread above shows.

Looks like it was set there to catch the used oil from the filter during the last oil/filter change. Person must've forgotten to take it out afterwards.

If that is all you want, why not save yourself a pile of cash and mount them directly to the stock roof rails?

Use the tent's rails as crossbars and bolt them directly to the factory roof rails. If you want the tent to open to the side, you'll need to shorten the tent rails and mount them perpendicular to the roof rails.
