I totally agree with peter, I also was told that my 99 4runner needed 6 1/2'' front and 5 1/4'' back and i found out that neither fit (too deep). I suggest you take the stock speakers off and see how deep they are. I'm gonna install Qform kick panel for my new speakers to fit in. Sade

Hi, I was told that the front will take 6.5" and rear will take 5.25" speakers so I got Alpine SPR-136A 5 1/4" & Alpine SPR-174A 6 1/2". I found out today that they don't fit (front ones are too deep and rear ones won't fit in the 'ring'). What's up with that ? is there a place that gives you...

I've recently purchased a 99 4runner and I can confirm that the stock speakers are the worst ! it did have a crappy old Sony cd player that the previous owner had placed with the stock tape player. I've just bought a JVC cd/mp3 player and 2 pairs of Alpine speakers Alpine SPR-136A 5 1/4"...
