I was replacing my timing belt this weekend and misaligned the markers on the belt with the notches on the shafts. Basically the timing belt markers on cam shafts were correctly aligned but the one on the crank shaft was off by a notch or two.
Inadvertently...
I am thinking of buying a cheap harbor freight/walmart welder and welding a bolt on top of the stem. I've never arc weld anything much less inside the engine bay. Should I...
1- Avoid at all costs
2- Go ahead with certain precautions
I know...my wife wants to take it to the shop but I have a...
:thanks::thanks: You can tell, I don't/can't do this for a living.
Now, that bolt with the stem still in the block is becoming a PITA. No amount of penetrating oil/butane heat is making it budge. Advice??? Pleaase...this is my only vehicle!
Thanks folks. I will give it another go. If I have to replace the whole arm, which one did you buy? OEM/Moog/Other - and why :-)

I dismembered the original MC and inspected individual components. I noticed that the black seal/oring in the reservoir neck was severely deshaped and expanded. I am guessing that there was no pressure built in the reservoir to drive the fluid through the front lines. Is that a possibility? If...
Updates - I finally found a master cylinder at a reputable junk yard out of Arizona ($250 shipped to CT). I swapped it out a fews days ago and since there was enough brake fluid left in the reservoir by the junk yard, decided to bleed the brakes.
Got pressure after bleeding the fronts. Din't do...
Received another call from the dealership. After discussing with the "head chef" they conclude that there is no way of conclusively diagnosing the internals so the suggested prognosis is a new master cylinder ($3150). I was kind of expecting that...
Tech notes mention bleeding the brakes and...
UPDATE: The dealership tried to bleed the system for 3 hours but failed. In the end, they think it is the accumulator that's messing up. $930 + tax at the stealership.
What is the best way to tackle this? Is it DIY? What should I ask the tech. to conclusively diagnose that replacing the...
