Ha! I am the original poster and the hoses are still in my 97. I also have a 2001 and 2002 sport that are running the same hoses.

Ok, had to remove the glove box. The latch is held on with 2 self tapping screws from the back of the glove box. A PITA for a simple latch replacement. The lock itself can be removed from the front once the lock cover is taken off. Another engineering marvel. That is all.

Thanks for the reply! It is the latch / lock that is broken. Thinking I may have to remove the glove box to see how it is attached from the back.

So I have 3 new parts. The latch, the cylinder lock/keys and the plastic surround that goes in front of the cylinder and holds it in place. I can see the tabs that hold the plastic surround in and thus the cylinder. The latch may need to be pulled forward some way to release it. No obvious...
