you really cant do that (replace the amp altogether) without losing some of the functions of the deck (front/rear fade and sorround mainly, probably more though). the deck only puts out left and right with data signals for everything else.

so the deck only outputs shielded left and right to the amp? and the amp does the processing? in the diagram it looks like and readio and player is continous with stereo component amplifier, and that all the shielded wire go back into it.

so it looks like the amp only powers the sub and the far back speakers. is this correct? from what i gather, all the other speakers are powered by the deck. or is there an amplifier somewhere that i am missing for the door speakers. thank you so much. Salvador

what is tx? which is front, and which is rear? do you have the diagram? that would be a lot easier to read than the schematics. something like the camry/solara ones you posted.

Im changing out the speakers, but im also using new amps. im using a four channel amp for the door speakers and a mono amp for the subs. 2 ohm arent necessarily more efficient than 4 ohm. Amps (if stable to lower impedances) output more power at lowe rimpedances than higher. Where do you guys...

SE4runner, do you have the wiring schematics or diagrams for the jbl synthesis system? im gonna be working on a 4runner with it, but keeping the head unit; changing door speakers and adding two subs. the catch is, the center speaker and rear pillar speakers need to still work. Sal

where the ports face does not really matter. just have to consider port length and area in a ported. a bandpass is extremely difficult to build and tune because it is very unforgiving to mistakes. sealed is really is to build and ported is also fairly easy. not to step on any toes, but type I...

i looked at the picture a little closer...what it is, is a harness that plugs into the original harness and into an aftermarket deck. those rca's are male ends so they plug into the female output of an aftermarket radio.

that plug is a female plug. most radios need a male plug to plug into them, so it might just be the plug at the amplifier. i'll take a look at the car and let you know. maybe i will change the center, but they dont typically sell individual speakers.

well, i really dont want to chop up the harness so i guess i'll just get the plugs from the dealer and make my own harnesses. if it is a low level, you can just solder rcas to it, then amplify the signal to a known voltage, say 4 or 6, and then connect from the signal amplifier to the power...
