Mine is the same way, all the edges started degrading. They took them back and repowder coated them, but this new batch is having the same issue. I'm going to just Rustoleum them and hope that holds.

yeah, with the stock suspension, kdss vs no kdss was night and day. After upgrading the suspension, the difference is lot less noticeable. If you're running a stock suspension, can just spend the money on a new suspension and just unplug the kdss wire by the module.

For that age of vehicle and that quoted cost of repair, I'd just pull the connector and turn off KDSS. That said, it'd be worth getting a quote from a non-dealer repair shop.

Yeah I agree, but you don't really know until it's too late. Can't really send them back at that point so you're stuck with easily rusting rails.

I have the regular steel bars and have had rust issues on all the bars, so definitely go with the stainless. Significantly more expensive for stainless, so price out what rails you want and then compare it to a full aftermarket rack.

Agreed, get the non-rusting bars. I have regular steel bars too and had rusting issues even before things were mounted. The powdercoating was weak or inconsistent causing rusting on all the machined edges. The stainless bars are ~50% more expensive though, so it does close the gap between buying...

Let us know how the install goes, it looks like you need to remove the transmission skid to drill some holes and install. I haven't tried, but hopefully there's an easy way to remove the transmission skid without loosening all the bolts on all the other skids.

I didn't realize a KDSS controller existed until I opened this thread. Good to know, I like the idea of turning it off when needed.

Yeah, nothing jumped out at as odd to me with the geometry of mine. Let us know if warranty covers it, would be curious if they argue it or not.
