Woah, my thread got bumped! Anyways, my 4runner doesn't see much use anymore, but to provide an update - I never attempted to remove the plastic piece after ya'lls input - it has about 260k miles now and is still driving smooth as butter!

Probably not to the engine, but slight chance to you! It just smells really bad in addition to the loud noise. Some of the smell, which is bad for you, could go through the floorpan too if you sit in one spot too long.

Yeah, I'm using the stock radio to keep the factory look. Also, my sub ground connection is good and I touch the LOC's ground to the chassis and it doesn't change anything.
