    Looking for some thoughts

Mehhhh.... you do you. If you don't go with OEM, the NAPA premium CVs work just fine. I've seen them used and that is what both toyota techs I know recommended for spares. OEMs can absolutely go bad without spilling grease or snapping from shock loading them (probably not going to happen...

    Looking for some thoughts

You can pull them and go through their range of motion (joint closest to the wheel) and see if it is smooth or if it catches, but at that point I would just replace them with the NAPA CVs with the lifetime warranty. Pretty cheap and if it’s something else (I assume you have checked to make sure...

    Looking for some thoughts

If you have already eliminated the tie rods and LCAs, I would check the CVs next. The bearings can get worn out and bind and the binding and unbinding can cause a pop or click.

Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - from Exit Offroad

Truth. Speaking of, does anyone here have a basic rundown of the how they adjust their MRRs for different situations or if you have a "do all" adjustment (like the number of clicks)? These are my first set with adjustment so just wanted to know if anyone could help me get started and then I...

Bent 5th gen front Spindles - Your experience?

I’ve seen a bent one on an FJ (same design). I got the kit after that just for the extra peace of mind and it’s only like $100 plus any labor that you have to have done to have them fab’d (these kits do require a little cutting/grinding to get it to fit just right IME). The guy who bent the FJ...

Found this Jeep in a little over its head on Kane Creek Canyon :smow:. Supposedly they had been stuck out there for about 6 or 7 hours

Tire alignment without front sway bar

That's what I think I am doing. They have been good for awhile but my past few experiences with them have been suspect. And how the guy led with "alright, so you are missing some parts". Trying to give them the benefit of the doubt though and ask around.

Tire alignment without front sway bar

A shop that I have used for awhile told me today that they were not able to a tire alignment with the front sway bar removed (2018 4runner non-KDSS). They said that my shocks would break (dobinsons), my braking would be "bouncy", and they can't get accurate camber readings. I have called other...

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Not trying to intrude but in case he doesn't see this, they are Bash Fabrication. It is a small shop in SC. I have a version of his sliders on my 4Runner and he does pretty much all of my work. If you have specific things you are looking for he will work with you to make sure you have them...

2021 ORP Time for a lift and wheels

Really happy with my setup. The fender liner mod has been done and I did remove the front mud flaps to deal with some minor rubbing when turning while compressed. The rear springs are rated at 1.25” (no 3rd row… 1” with 3rd row) but I at least got 1.5. My rear sits at 23.75 hub to fender...
