I realize this is going back half a century, but did you ever figure it out? Im not finding many of these threads that end with successful solutions, just cliff hangers

like so many of these threads, this one just ends on a cliff hanger. did anyone figure it out in the end? my sons 89 with 3.0 V6 did the same thing and I'm trying to research solutions. please share if you learned something to help

Hi, I'm a new member. Did you ever get this fixed? My son has a 1st Gen with the 3.0 V6 and the same thing would happen. Once we were sitting at an intersection behind a cop, in neutral, and the stupid thing would just surge like you said between idle - 1500 RPM. It was embarrassing...
