    4th Gen suspension question

We just installed suspension from TRD offroad (I think it was a 2023) on my nephew's 4th gen. We did the UCAs, and all springs and shocks... nephew says it leveled the truck better and is driving nice... my buddy gave us the take offs, so the price was right, for sure... there was nothing...

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

The other day, I drove up and touched some snow... ended up rescuing a jeep. Fixed a torn shock boot and bent Lower trailing arm And then threw a new Roam box on top of the rack. Really love my garage... I fit in the small stall and have a few inches to spare in overhead clearance.

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Found a good parking spot at Tahuya ORV for lunch. First time out with the 285 KO2s on... they did pretty good, very good traction on soft surfaces, but I definitely need the lockers to do anything significant. Truck did great through the technical bits, but struggled on rocks, but that's...

Anyone else have front brake rotor heat issues?

Having driven bug rigs in the mountains, I have to +1 the engine braking... the 5th gen does a good job engaging engine braking even in D, but for the prolonged downhills, s4 or s3 are a good choice, but you will need to watch your transmission temperatures... at the end of the day, the energy...

These are the brake lines: 4Runner & FJ Cruiser Extended Stainless-Steel Brake Lines They're about 6 inches longer than stock. This is the difference with the axle at full droop.

Rockblokz mudflaps with a cbi rear bumper

I haven't seen this posted anywhere, but I got a pretty simple "cut n fit" to work for Rockblokz mud flaps on the rear. The front lined up nicely as stock 5th gen (which was my real problem... 285s rubbing on the mud flaps a little). The rear, I did a little cardboard CAD and figured out I could...

2016 T4R Four wheel brake job cost

I just upgraded mine to the powerstop extremes. New pads and rotors were $500 10-23 4Runner Power Stop Z36 Extreme Truck & Tow Brake Kit I'm by no means good at anything mechanical, but a brake job is a pretty simple operation. If your rotors are "rust welded" on, but you're swapping them out...

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Got all the work done except wiring the license plate light... back end is sitting a little above the front again (about an inch up from the standard +2" icons), brakes are happy, brake fluid was gross, so the truck got a good wash, too. Extended travel shocks + stock brake lines means much...

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Doing a bunch of maintenance today... put on 285/70/17s last week, minor issue with rubbing on the mud flaps, will likely replace them with skinnier flaps (in missing my rear flaps already from having too much fun in dirt) HOW-TO: grease your drive shaft Was very happy to be able to get to the...

    5th Gen T4R Picture Gallery

A fellow low mileage 4runner! I feel bad not driving mine more, but I just don't get out much... mine is a 2016 and I have 38k on it, too. I want to replace the brakes as I have put on a bit of weight, but the factory brakes are still doing fine...

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

I am going to be running 285/70/17s and am carrying a ton of weight, and tow a lot... I was thinking 4.56 would be good, but you're making me think about 4.88... (famous last words) I won't be going bigger tires, so I can't imagine needing 5.29.

    Rear Storage & Leveling Platform

Did/do you have 3rd row seats? I'm debating removing my 3rd row seats to get a little more storage and doing something like this.

Battery voltage dropping randomly after new alternator, battery and serpentine belt

If it was arcing and melted plastic with a bad bolt, it will arc to metal that gets too close... best to not leave it exposed.

This is the way... tie the light into the wiring harness for the trailer lights. I just installed a cbi rear bumper and I put mine under the Jerry can holder.
