You're right I called Toyota ... the online product sheet is misleading ... the heights given are without the rails or rack. And, she couldn't actually find anyone, even in engineering, who has actually bothered to measure it. Based on what's been shared here, 77 inches seems right.

I’m thinking of doing this, but I also wonder: wouldn’t it have been cheaper for someone shopping 4Runners to buy an OR Premium rather than get the more expensive Limited and then do a conversion?

What about the Limited. From what I read online and just looking at the front of mine, it seems I'd be very "limited" off-pavement, unless I replaced the bottom? So, I started looking at aftermarket front bumpers and the few made for the Limited are too radical (aesthetically).
