Sweet light white smoke cold start up

Good luck is all I can say. If it is confirmed to be a bad head gasket, and you can do the job yourself, just get a remanufactured head from Yota1 or International Cylinder Head. The head gasket leak often leads to a cracked head, at least almost everyone one I have seen.

BEST 3rd Gen aftermarket front axles

I put IMPORT DIRECT (TRAKMOTIVE) on in 2021. Ran them hard for 2.5 years with no failures. I am at stock height though. I feel like the guys that have issues are lifted and their boots constantly rub and wear out. I have since switched to manual hubs, running Trakmotive brand axles also.

    Front Diff oil leak

Likely the seal if you haven't recently serviced your diff. You can order the tool from East Coast Gear supply to install the seal at the correct depth. If you use a generic seal driver, you can push it too far and it won't seal.

    Rear Driveshaft Rebuild/Replace?

I'm a decent mechanic, and I was unable do this job. I ended up messing up the yoke, and had to buy a new one. It was only like 275 dollars for a new rear yoke with Neapco U-joint, a new U-joint put in the spare used yoke I had, and a balance of the shaft. I found a local driveshaft shop...

    Rear accessory port upgrade

I had one from the company he bought the designs from. I had clearance issues with the wiring hitting the metal behind there, and eventually a piece of loose gear smashed into it and broke it.

3rd Gen Oil Cooler Gasket & NIGHTMARE!

Superlube keeps the gasket in place while you line up the oil cooler.

front stabilizer bar link replacement procedure

If you take BOTH off, you can just rotate the sway bar. Its easy enough to just turn the wheel to one side to get access.

1st Gen Tundra Bilsteins on 3rd Gen 4Runner - super wonky ride

Lower the clip position. Tundra shocks are heavier, so with the extra preload from the higher clip position, it's giving you too much initial compression. You don't want any squat. Level or 1/2 to 1 inch higher in the rear is ideal for handling.

Transfer Case Actuator Motor Replacement - OEM or Aftermarket?

Easiest way to tell with the vehicle on the ground is to do the following. 1. Engage Parking Brake and Block the wheels 2. Transfer Case to "N" Position. 3. Turn Front driveshaft by Hand 4. Driveshaft Turns = Front Diff ADD is Unlocked - Suspect Transfer Case Actuator 5. Driveshaft does not...

Transfer Case Actuator Motor Replacement - OEM or Aftermarket?

The first pic shows the ADD actuator on the front diff. 2nd pic shows the Tcase actuator. You can try manually actuating the Tcase actuator. Are you certain the Frt Diff Actuator is working properly. Mine was stuck in 4wd with a flashing light, ended up being the Frt Diff Actuator. The...

    "Hand-Held Tester" and Diagonostic Tools

ScanGauge or UltraGauge is good for real time monitoring, and reading/clearing engine codes. Techstream is the best way to go for the 3rd gen 4runner. There is nothing that can't be done with Techstream, that one of those Scan tools does. If you really want to buy a scan tool, I would...

Energy Suspension Upper Control Arm bushings shot after 50k miles

Yeah it kind of did. I thought something was wrong in the front end, i replaced the tie rods and had the alignment done with no change. I started to look at the rear, and one of them had some slight movement, so I swapped it real quick with a good used arm. Instantly fixed it. Every little...

Solution to Brittle Wiring Harness Cover Under Plenum

I just did the VC on 2 different 3.4. Mine is a 2001 4RUnner with 220k miles, garage kept and babied. The other one was a 1998 Tacoma 4x4 with some HARD miles on it. My wiring and loom was super pliable and soft. I don't think I could have broken those plastic pieces if I tried. Only 1...
