I had a similar issue and a non-toyota mechanic found a problem with my vaccum line for the 4wd.. replaced that and it worked perfectly.
The toyota machanic was saying that the switch or the actuator may the problem.
sounds like a good way to get one hella fast truck...
I found a nice body with a busted motor..
and I found a twin turbo motor real cheap..
Sounds like a real fun project waiting to happen.
I found a guy on ebay selling inexpensive OEM hella kits for about 40 bucks shipped. Comes with new laps, bulbs, wire harness, and other trinkets to have the lamps work. I installed the kit on my truck.. new lights work great.

I just ripped out the old wire harness and lamps for the fog lights and replaced them with the kit I got on ebay. Fogs work great now. Easy install too.. took about 2 hours to rip out the old one and put in the new one.
For $40 bucks.. can't beat it.

I actually found a guy that sells the entire kit.. lamps, bulbs, and wire harness. I managed to snipe an auction and got the whole thing for 42 bucks shipped. Sounds like he has a few more sets.

Just went through all the records he gave me, the dealer replaced pads and resurfaced front rotors at 47k miles. 77k on the clock. I guess there's my answer.
