Doesn't hurt to try. It can be scraped off. I have used jb for other low budget fixes and it is often does a good temporary fix. My motorcycle has had some for almost 10 years. Some of us need cheap solutions and I was just suggesting a try, however I agree if you have money, replace it.

Try to clean the area really good and apply jb weld on there first. Could fix the problem for $4.

I agree, I suspect the wheel/brake cylinder also. Replace is with a new one and bleed the brakes.

I would say if there are no leaks, fluids are clean and it runs good at idle and on the highway, it should be ok. Nothing is a sure thing, but these rigs are good vehicles.

The V6 has 3 coils over the 3 spark plugs on the pasenger side. From these coils, wires are run to the other 3 spark plugs on the driver side. Formula 1 coil= 2 spark plugs. Here's how to check them. from the repair manual...

I would go with the cheaper of the two. I personally dont get attached to the toyota oem parts. I bought a oem coil from the dealer out of desperation and had to pay $120.00.. Ouch!

Update..Apparently there is a ECT [I]Sensor[/I] and a ECT Sender on the 3.4L. The sensor is on the front top of the intake manifold and communicates with the computer and the sender is on the back top of the intake near the firewall and communitcates with the gauge. I had been focusing on the...

I have a 2001 4runner 3.4L. Temp gauge is not reading all of a sudden. Seems to be running fine. The head gaskets had been recently (2 months ago) replaced cuz water pump failed and it over heated. I am guessing it could be the ECT sensor or even a fuse. It did not appear to over heat today but...

fixed the leak Thanks guys for your imput. I replaced the driverside cylinder gasket, spark plug gaskets, rubber pieces on valve cover bolts and plenum gaskets. Cost about $100. Now I have no leaks. Stoked.

My wife bought one from e-bay and had to bring it to a locksmith to program it. It has worked great. All told it was about $120.00. With two small kids it was worth it.

Okay now I am confused again. Seems like there are conflicting stories on whether the intake manifold needs to be removed to get at the driverside valve cover. Anyone else have a thought or experience with this?
