I have a 2015 and the addition of CarPlay and push button start are the only changes I really desire in my 4Runner. It kills me that it takes until 2020 to get these things in the Toyota truck lineup.

Confirmed you are exactly right about this. I put it in a notch between settings and turned off the car and replicated the issue. So that ends that. Not sure why I seem to be leaving it in an in between state so often, maybe I nudge it after unplugging phone or some other repetitive behavior...

Nice. It's good to know you own a car that can do that. I am lucky to have a commuter car and a 4Runner so my 4Runner doesn't have as many miles yet, but I bought it with the plan to keep it for many years and many miles.

My brother in Colorado has a 1989 Nissan Pathfinder that's still chugging along. Great design, hell of an engine. Somewhere around 250K miles.
