Costco Tires: Firestone Destination A/T2 or something else?

I was just going to get P rated. Yes, I would probably go with the Michelin if I hadn't see the tire rack performance with braking. I find myself coming into heavy traffic from 70-80 mph and having that extra 10 feet is a big difference.

Costco Tires: Firestone Destination A/T2 or something else?

I went to Costco to get tires. I was told that Destination A/T2's were too heavy to for my 4runner with a V6 by the tire tech. He claimed they would be too heavy. I can't figure out why this would be the case. Is there something I am missing, or did the guy make a mistake? I am currently...

cali emissions engine into federal 4r

If your switching computers as well, then you will need the wideband o2 sensor that goes with it. It's different than federal.

Should I remove my sway bars for a long family trip?

I am in agreement with Romeo1. This is a terrible idea if your planning on driving a fully loaded 4runner for long distances at highway speeds. If you try to make an emergency steering input your going to have a higher chance to roll. The sports car owners that I am aware of, always go for...

Help me identify this squeal (video inside) - ETA solved

While I have not heard that exact squeak when working on my car, I have heard something similar. I would confirm that it wasn't your brakes or wheel first. When I had to do my rear axle seals, there was fluid that had leaked onto the rear brakes and would cause them to do some weird binding and...

Power antenna fixed but... new issue

Adding another one not to buy. For Toyota 4Runner 1996-2002 AM FM Radio Power Antenna Aerial Mast Cable Cord UE | eBay Don't buy it. Motor would continue to spin when retracting or extending.

For those that changed their upstream o2 sensor to increase MPG, did it work?

It's important to realize that different models in the U.S. use different O2 sensors, so you may see different results due to that. I replaced my California spec O2 sensor and saw about a 1 mpg difference. I went from and average of 15-16 per tank to 16-17.

Seemingly never ending sinking brake pedal issue

I went through a similar problem. From your description of you problem, you have probably failed to bleed the brakes. Here is what I went through on my issue. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/180460-bench-bleeding-master-cylinder-2.html Not having the tool to activate your ABS while...

    Stuck in 4wd

I had a similar problem on my 4runner. On mine it ended up being a switch/sensor on the front diff that tells the ecu if 4x4 front diff was engaged or not. It's simple to test. Remove the switch, hook up an ohm meter to it, push the switch in, see if it changes. If it doesn't change you know...

    Rear axle seal leak

Here is my thread about axle seals and repairing them. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/223058-axel-seals-leaking-did-you-replace-wheel-bearings.html If there is diff oil, then you need to replace the INNER axle seal. That is what keeps the diff oil where it is suppose to be. The diff...

Avital 5303L Alarm install issue with Remote start triggering alarm.

I have not. My sister doesn't want the entire thing to unlock with one button, so at some point I will be hooking up H2/1 LIGHT BLUE (-) 200mA SECOND UNLOCK OUTPUT to complete the install. It's about 107 outside today, so I am going to wait until it's cooler to finish it.

Avital 5303L Alarm install issue with Remote start triggering alarm.

I haven't had time to mess with my sisters alarm until today. I realized at one point the reason why the factory alarm was going off was due to the PKALL not sending keysense after starting. I started wondering if how I had hooked the pkall to the 5303L might be the problem, and if the 5303L...

    TRD Supercharged $runner mpg?

So the first thing you need to do is learn how to calculate your MPG. Judging your MPG by tankful is not sufficient to tell if you have seen a decrease in mpg. To measure mpg 1) Fill the tank to full. 2) Drive around until you need fuel again. Record mileage. Account for wheel difference from...

Tips required for Removing Rear ABS Sensor

I would make sure you can rotate the sensor a little bit before attempting to pry it out. Mine seem to be generating some suction when I attempted to pull it straight out. I basically just wiggled it back and forth until it finally worked it's way up a bit so I could get a screw driver under it...
