o2 sensor problems and alignment problems

And I've always been made to believe that the O2 located after the muffler is the only one that counts. Also try to get away from the "If I'm not absolutely sure that it's the problem, then I won't replace it" approach. Many times you will either never have complete proof that any one component...

How much difference does 0.5" make?

You have to always take in account that a manufacturer will tell you only what will keep them out of court. Just like the timing belt replacement recommendations. They have to account for the absolute worst situations. So yeah, if you live in the Alaskan outback with -80deg winters, you should...

Strange Idle issue, since replacing ALT belt

Have you done just the basic "look over the last thing that was done"? If you say that the problem started then, inspect the whole area where the work was done. Either something was left off, or something was damaged during replacement, or something was probably put on the wrong plug. If in...

o2 sensor problems and alignment problems

If you think that your O2 sensor is even remotely old, go ahead and replace it. You'll be surprised how much better it will run with a new one. Go online and get one that fits your vehicle (plug and all about $30) and swap it out. They only ever last about 50k miles. Believe it or not the O2 is...

fuel level gauge cable wire?? PLEASE HELP

Is there a specific reason why you're assuming a wire problem instead of a sensor problem?

    towing a '90 on a tow dolly

In normal config (with the vehicle level) and towing it, I do believe you need to disconnect the drive shaft because the rotation of the trans is what forces the lub to the bearings of the rear shaft and because the trans is not turning, the rear shaft bearings get starved of lub and so goes the...

    Fan Shroud Question

Themostat is sticking The first time that happened to me was in my old 64 GTO. Normally the heater worked great but that day it didn't work worth a flip. Soon afterward i.e., about 5 miles down the road, she overheated on me in an ice storm. How could it be overheating when it's this damn cold...

86' 4-runner not starting. ANY ADVICE????

When you said NEW plugs etc, did you mean really new or new from the donor, and did you do this before of after it overheated? What is the compression now? Does it still not start at all or just not start very well? Did you check the fuel pump?

    Just bought a 1st gen

I made it for my 1st gen and one for my Tundra. If you're interested, let me know and I can probably help you put one together. It's all plastic and "Slides Like Butter Baby" but I'll warn you, it ain't cheap.

    Identify these connections

Those go to the Doobilator valves. You didn't buy a truck with missing Doobilators did you? Man, I'm sooo sorry. 8).... Just couldn't resist. I just looked at mine (89 V6) and I think the same plugs are connected up to a bunch of vacuum relays on my pass. side fender well. But what they do, I...

I did think of something else. Did they chatter before you repacked the bearings?

    front end making chattering noise

Auto Locking hubs probably Mine never worked very well either. For $100 you can get the manual Aisan hubs used and that will probably fix your problem. Besides, you'll end up swapping them eventually so you might as well do it now. OK, so try this. Go ahead and remove the Auto Locks from your...

    Just bought a 1st gen

Fuel guage & back window Under your back seat you'll find a hatch (closer to the pasenger side) that when removed will expose the top of the tank and the sending unit that you need to get at. It is actually the fuel pump and sending unit all together. I replaced mine with another whole assembly...

    1989 4Runner rebuild

So did you ever replace the diffs? You kinda got off-subject. I just did mine (89) via the same year donor (94 I think). The only thing that I had any issues with was the ADD assembly on the left side (driver's) of the front diff. If your donor has this feature - which I'll bet it does - all...
