My kids, 7 and 4, don't seem to have a problem hopping from the seat to the ground... Running boards would probably get in the way. The sliders do leave a little dirt if you aren't thinking about them and brush up against them on the way down.
Did you do the suspension? I ask because I am contemplating OME but not sure I will be able to upgrade tires until the winter. Was wondering if you did the lift before getting bigger tires. I don't want it to look like my 4Runner is skipping leg days at the gym. Any info is appreciated.
