Hey Guys, Just to update you all- I finally got the chance to change out my steering rack bushings. I decided to put in the Energy Suspensions Polyurethane bushings.. The huge amount of movement is now gone....although i have to say that i don't notice any real difference in handling... It was...

New OEM Steering Rack- How Much Movement is Normal?

Wow...if the ES bushings had that much movement, imagine how the OEM's would have been lol I'll definitely look into the Whiteline's

New OEM Steering Rack- How Much Movement is Normal?

As much as i don't want to, i'm going to swap out the oem bushings with Poly ones.. This level of movement just makes me uncomfortable.. It's almost like there is no bushing in there at all... Btw i did recheck everything and all the bolts were at torque spec... It's just how these bushings...

New OEM Steering Rack- How Much Movement is Normal?

New OEM Steering Rack- How Much Movement is Normal?

Yeah it just seems like a ton of movement. The rack is basically sliding around in the oblong shaped bushing...almost an inch of movement every time i move the steering wheel... I suppose the poly bushings would move much less, but they would end up having a stiffer feel?

New OEM Steering Rack- How Much Movement is Normal?

Hey Guys, I just installed a new OEM steering rack on my 2000 limited and when you shake the steering wheel, you can see the steering rack move quite a bit. How much play is too much when it comes to these trucks? I'd say i'm getting 1/2 inch to an inch movement up and down. Should i toss the...

    HELP - Can't Pass Smog - Catalyst Won't Reset

Based on the instructions i saw....it has to be 176 or higher. So this would mean i can get it up to temp. Turn it off...go through the specific drive cycles and it should then reset? and if it happens to drop below 176 during the drive cycle, it won't be an issue?

    HELP - Can't Pass Smog - Catalyst Won't Reset

For a proper drive cycle...does the coolant temp need to go back down to ambient or can you be driving- turn off the car- and have a new 'drive cycle'? I'm having a heck of a time getting the catalyst monitor to cycle. I have a feeling its my cooler thermostat that doesn't let the car get above...

Question- Can steering wheel be adjusted without dropping Rack?

So i ended up doing it, but it was a little trickier than expected. It can be done without the rack being loosened or dropped, but its probably worthwhile to loosen up the main bolts on the rack. The main issue i had was getting the splined parts off- clearance is one problem (i had to use a bit...
