When I did a drain and refill of my transmission at 60K miles (2004 V-6 4WD), I measured how much drained. 4.5 quarts of tranny fluid drained. My manual said that only 2.1 quarts should have drained. I refilled 4.5 quarts. I'm not sure why there was such a difference but I'm at 87K miles now...

I did a drain and refill on my 04 a couple of weeks ago. It took 4.5 quarts to replace what I drained. This put the fluid level exactly in the middle of the hot range on my dipstick. Don't forget to buy a new crushable washer. This is a very easy job to do yourself.

I lost mine a couple of times. I finally made one out of metal and attached this with 2 short bolts. This works just fine. When I change oil, though, I always remove the skid plate so that I have access to other things that I want to check.
