    Actuator / Transfer Case leak

I had the same leak coming from the transfer case seal. Ignored it for several months, then the actuator got jammed and would not switch to 4low. I had to shell out three grand to replace the actuator. Annoying to say the least.

Likelihood of 4th Gen V8 Cats being stolen

Just to be clear, we are discussing removing the driver and passenger side brace circled in red?

Likelihood of 4th Gen V8 Cats being stolen

I've inspected under my 4runner, and I don't see why you can simply modify the skid plate for placement under those braces and then bolt on, with longer bolts, to the same attachment points on the frame. That would leave the braces intact and still allow the skid plate the same attachment points...

Likelihood of 4th Gen V8 Cats being stolen

I would assume so. So I slight con there. Also the aft side of the plate mounts to preexisting holes after you remove to braces that attach to a cross member under the transfer case. I'm a little apprehensive removing those as Toyota engineers wouldn't add those if they were uneccessary...

Likelihood of 4th Gen V8 Cats being stolen

That's exactly what I'm looking for! So this is a direct bolt on? No undercarriage modifications required? Thanks for the link!

Likelihood of 4th Gen V8 Cats being stolen

The front end of the two smaller Cats are inaccessible to a cutting saw, and unbolting would be impossible without removing the headers. So those are irrelevant. The larger Cat that connects to the Y-pipe is more of a concern and the most expensive to replace. It would take cutting the front...

Likelihood of 4th Gen V8 Cats being stolen

The main Cat is my main concern. I checked that a replacement OEM part is $1066. Unbelievable. Would really like to have a steel plate put in underneath, but there doesn't seem to be any good options short of fabricating one myself. The Budbuilt skid plate doesn't seem to fully cover the main...

Likelihood of 4th Gen V8 Cats being stolen

A friend of ours with 1st Gen Sequoia had both her cats stolen yesterday in broad daylight at a strip mall parking lot here in Vegas. Out of shear paranoia, this has sparked an obsessive fact finding mission on the likelihood of our cats being stolen out of our V8 4Runners. If I'm not mistaken...

    CV Axle Experts needed (VIDEO)

So just wanted to update, since it's been awhile. Ended up replacing both UCA's (passenger side upper ball joint blown out), and front wheel bearings with bluepitt Koyo bearings (even though original stock were fine, keep as spares), and also replaced passenger CV axle that was showing some...

    New tire balancing issues... again

I thought I had balancing issues with a set of new Firestone AT2 tires and was back in forth at Toyota and Firestone rebalancing a half a dozen times. I even had Toyota road force balance, but the vibration problems persisted. I would get a steering wheel shimmy at about 65mph and then a...
