I have steel RCI skids on my 4R. They have held up great. We don't get much snow but we do see plenty of water and humidity. That isn't rust on my skids, that's mud and dirt.

Toyotech lift, total chaos UCAs, spider traxx spacers, Nitto Terra Grappler G2 AT and a little trimming. No rub.. Mostly. I do plan to replace the front bumper with a new one from CBI and that should completely remove the minor rub I get at full lock.

Nice set up. What size drawer did you use? I am planning to shamlessly copy your approach to the storage problem in my G5TE.
