    From E-Town

I'm in Edmonton until April, then I'll be moving somewhere a little warmer with more elevation change.

Check that the output gear coming out of the reducer isn't grooved/missing teeth. Mine was, causing a stutter.

    Dual-Sport motorcycles

If anyone has questions regarding dirtbikes or dual sports, send me an email. I race dirtbikes in the Intermediate class and it's my hobby/obsession. What sort of riding do you want to do (% road/% trail)? Dirt roads, extreme offroad? In my opinion, a KTM525EXC with a baja designs...

    clunky front end

Does it happen at any wheel position? If it only happens with the wheels turned hard, check the rubber bumper on the steering stop.

Im sick of driving automatic trannys

Obviously none of you guys live in big mountains. Automatic transmissions are terrible in the mountains when you want to use the drivetrain to hold you back on a hill. Yes, automatic transmissions can hold back reasonably well on hills, but not as well as a manual. I've also found in my...

    FULL tank

How's your air filter looking? I know, with fuel injection it shouldn't make a difference, but it sure did on my 89.

Visual differences between 2nd Gen T4Rs.

Did Toyota 4Runners ever have the spare tire on the back? My 89 has it underneath.

    Any British Columbia 4Runners here?

I split my time between Trail, BC (May-September) and Edmonton, AB (September-April).

best year to turn into trail rig

For a trail rig, here's my opinion: First pick: 1985 4Runner. Solid axle, dependable, no frills vehicle. Removable top is a big plus in my opinion. Second pick: E-locked 3rd gen with SAS. Pretty comfy ride. Third pick: 1989 4Runner. Just needs a SAS and it's good to go for trail. I...

    Tire size?

How exactly do you plan on getting better gas mileage with smaller tires? Sure, it'll be a little easier to accelerate with smaller tires, but to go the same speed the wheels (and thus tranny and engine) will be spinning faster. As far as tire size, I believe 29" tires are the next...

    This will PISS YOU OFF!!

What pisses me off is that right now I'm paying $1.123/L, canadian dollars per litre. I live in the BC Interior. The lower mainland (ie. Vancouver) has an extra 10 cents or more per litre fuel surcharge to cover rapid transit and stuff yet they pay less than us in the Interior! Prices in...

    Fire extinguisher

Right now mine is strapped to the roll bar in the cargo area. It's fairly compact, but I still can't find a better place within reach of the driver's seat in my 89. Any suggestions?

Any more young guns out there?

I'm 20 years old, just got my 4Runner in early June. I can't wait to take the top off, no way is my 4Runner a family vehicle! http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d69/speedymaniac/?action=view&current=1989Toyota4RunnerV6SR5.jpg&refPage=&imgAnch=imgAnch1

    Your other vehicle?

I just got my 89 4Runner not too long ago. My other ride is my 2001 GasGas EC200 that I race offroad with. Can't wait until I graduate next year and can get another 200, only a 2007 or 2008 model!
