Well it wasn't complicated at all. Once I looked at the fuse panel it was obvious - there wasn't a fuse there. The 7.5 Amp fuse was actually in the 'unused' spot 2 spaces away. Moved the fused; now the airbag light is coming on as it should. Thanks for all the good info.

Thanks for the info on this. I'm going to check this out first thing in the morning (I'm glad I held on to my DMM). In case I need to get into the dash, are there any diagrams or exploded-view sheets out there?
