The batteries do come loose I have the same problem. The problem seems to be with the way the battery is held in position. After trying some scotch tape which only lasted a couple of days today I put a couple of VERY small drops of super glue to hold it in. It seems there are some small tabs...

I have a 95 model with the same problem. I read some where there are some bushings for the automatic shift lever that can be replaced that you can get from the dealer for cheap. Auto Trans Shifter is Loose.. - YotaTech Forums
