Moral support -- is it time to move on?

I'll admit that I'm not too familiar with the later model CA smog 3rd gens, but how often are the CATs really "blown"? I've had my fair share of finicky German cars and they LOVE blaming the cat for everything. My understanding is that one shouldn't typically destroy a catalytic converter...

coil spring isolator - Energy squeaks? with Bilstein 24-248730 and 24-249966 5100s

I just swapped out my frickin' isolators for the 3rd time...Previous 2 times were crappy rubber that comes with the tophat...kyb and monroe. they both split and tore in less than 6 months of use...mind you this is on tundra bilstein 5100 + OME 883s on the 2nd notch. Before this, i had a stock...

    OME 882 vs. 883

I had 881s in the front and 891s in the rear. With my CBI hybrid, my front was almost 1.5" lower than the rear. I just switched to 883s and it leveled me right out. I personally think it now rides better than the 881s. I sit approx. 24" hub to fender all around. Im also running tundra 5100s...

    Suspension advice after adding bumper

I previously had Tundra (5 perch) bilstein 5100s and OME 881s on my '96 with a CBI hybrid front (at least 100lbs) With that setup, 881s on the second perch, i was sitting at ~22" hub to fender. It handled fairly well...not too much diving with braking and corners. FYI 881s are roughly a 500lb...

    OME Front Coilovers

I JUST replaced my 881s with 883s. I have a CBI hybrid front bumper. With the 881s on the second perch of my tundra 5100s, i was only sitting at about 22" hub to fender. It would also dive like crazy under heavy braking...drove like a caddy...floating around. With the 883s on the same perch...

Big Job Today With Front Suspension

^^^ This. If you have all the stuff ready to go and with minimal damage to any mounting areas...unlike mine...then it really isn't that big of job. Even on jack stands in the driveway, it's not too bad if you don't have to deal with rust belt issues and press work. However, I'm the last...

Big Job Today With Front Suspension

There must be something going around... I just got mine back together after doing all of this as well. JBA offroad UCAs w/new upper ball joints included. Rebuilt my OEM LCAs w/ Whiteline bushings Swapped my OME 881s for 883s on my 5100s New steering rack + ITRE/OTREs and rack bushings I dont...

    Ignition cylinder replacement...no ACC

Yeah, you have to get it to turn to acc in order to push the release pin up, then you can slide the cylinder assembly out. Anyways... i finally got it out and can now start it with needle nose pliers. New assembly is on the way. Incase anyone else runs into this issue, I eventually got it to...

    Ignition cylinder replacement...no ACC

I've got 3 keys in varying condition from brand new to smooooooth and round. None of them work anymore. I am rebuilding the front end of my rig and went to bleed the power steering. Insert key, and it turned just fine but i forgot to hook up my battery, so i took the key out, hooked up the...

    Ignition cylinder replacement...no ACC

So I can not get my key to turn to acc so I can pull the cylinder. It will only turn enough to unlock the steering wheel. Is my only option at this point drilling that damn thing out? Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

    Inner Tie Rod Wrenches

I'm in the process of rebuilding my front end. I've watched just about every video mtbtim has made. Thanks man! Your vids are the perfect supplement to the FSM. Anyways, I watched his recent one about replacing the ITREs where he bought a couple of slim adjustable wrenches to properly...

    Help/opinions please!! Unicorn 4Runner

Id fix it. Mine has had the front end wrinkled like that a couple of times now. It's a 96, so i didn't have the airbag damage to deal with...not exactly sure what it would take to set those off in mine... After the second time, i replaced the stock front with a CBI Hybrid. Slightly off...

Cheap RockAuto UCAs for just 1 year?

I'm currently in the process of rebuilding my front end. I am just about to put some JBA offroad UCAs on. Not much coverage on this site, but Tacoma and Jeep (yeah yeah) guys seem to love them. They are about the same price range as the SPCs, i got mine for ~$460. Haven't put them on yet...
