Removing the nag screen in nav?

Any assembly programmer here? Some 19 years old on the Acura TSX forum was able to hack into the Honda navigation system to remove the nag screen and add personalized background picture. Pretty amazing stuff. Now only if somebody could figure out how to do this on the Toyota Denso navs...

    Backup Camera ??'s

No the Savv will not plug in directly. It has RCA plug so you will have to fabricate adapter into the nav pins. Plus you will need to run power cable from 12v source active during reverse, such as the backup light. The Eclipse BEC103 camera is a direct plug and play model, but difficule to...

Here's Some Help with Navigation Install

Somebody found this Eclipse plug that's supposed to be direct fit into the plug on the back of our nav. However nobody has tried it yet. If you are able to find one, then it might just work.

    Camry Nav Installer

All you have to worry about is the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) and REV (reverse sensor). Navigation unit uses VSS and REV to sense movements of your venhicle on the map, with GPS as secondary positioning aid. It is also how the nav unit know when to disable menu options when the vehicle is...

    Camry Nav Installer

For basic system you will need the Camery nav which comes with a JBL amp (separate box) from oemvalue. It does cost $100 more than Solara nav though because of the additional amp. Stephen

    Camry Nav Installer

I live in Irvine, and I have installed the Camera/Solara nav in a Sienna, it was pretty straightforward. Not sure how much help I can provide with a 4Runner though. The only tricky part is to know where to tap into the VSS and REV wire of the vehicle, and to properly remove the dash pieces to...

    Should I switch Navigation Systems?

That's why I don't like going to local stereo shops. It seems all they care about is unload their inventory. I haven't found a shop that actually listens to what I need. Stephen

    Backup Camera

The Eclipse BEC103 is the OEM camera for Toyota Sienna/4Runner/Sequoia/LandCruiser and Lexus RX330. It is plug-n-play for the Toyota navi units and costs $180-200. However, only one person I know of on Sienna forum has successfully purchased one, so they are a little hard to come by. Toyota...

Just installed CD/MP3 chgr on NAV!!

That disc 10 not showing up doesn't sound normal. It's more like a bug. Kinda reminds me of Microsoft's "This is by design" when they encounter a bug they can't fix. Does the diagnostic fail consistently everytime? The diagnostic in my Sienna would occasionally fail the RES test, probably...

Thanks for sharing those links. Excellent stuff! Here are some links: Connecting a modified Xbox to Lexus nav Adding audio only to Lexus Mark Levingston system. Nav related topics on Sienna Forum. Another Sienna thread on decoding wires.

Here's Some Help with Navigation Install

This is actually in a Sienna. The AC inverter is built into the van, and is not powered up. I think what Toy-man said makes perfect sense, it was my suspicion all along. I was going to get a ground-loop isolator which will fix this problem, but using pin13 is much neater. Thanks, Stephen

Here's Some Help with Navigation Install

Thanks for the help. I'll give it a try soon. This particular speaker is still being made. In fact our local RS just got more in stock, and they show in stock online as well. I think the 12v CB speaker was the one that was discontinued. This one runs on 9v and is considerably louder. Stephen

Here's Some Help with Navigation Install

First of all, thanks for the post. It makes perfect sense and verified my assumption of ground loop due to improper ground. I am running this RadioShack amplified speaker powered with a 12v-9v cigarette power adaptor. Where would the shield ground be for this unit that needs to connect to...

Here's Some Help with Navigation Install

I tried a similar hands free car kit. Both the kit and the radio shack speaker had massive noise when powered from the car 12v. This leads me to believe there is some type of feedback from the nav's power into the 12v. I'm suprised it works in your setup without any static. I'll have to look...
