This is actually in a Sienna. The AC inverter is built into the van, and is not powered up. I think what Toy-man said makes perfect sense, it was my suspicion all along. I was going to get a ground-loop isolator which will fix this problem, but using pin13 is much neater. Thanks, Stephen

Thanks for the help. I'll give it a try soon. This particular speaker is still being made. In fact our local RS just got more in stock, and they show in stock online as well. I think the 12v CB speaker was the one that was discontinued. This one runs on 9v and is considerably louder. Stephen

I tried a similar hands free car kit. Both the kit and the radio shack speaker had massive noise when powered from the car 12v. This leads me to believe there is some type of feedback from the nav's power into the 12v. I'm suprised it works in your setup without any static. I'll have to look...
