I have a 2017 SR5 with 80k miles and mine had the same thing happen yesterday except the battery wasn't dead. It gets up to speed slowly because it keeps shifting once it hits 2000 rpm. Going to try disconecting the battery to see if that helps
Just upgraded my wheels and suspension so trying to sell the original suspension from 2017 T4R SR5. It was professionally removed by a shop with 28k miles on the 4Runner. Owned and driven in Chicago so there is some rust but still works great

I'm definitely no mechanic but I've never heard of them having a break in period besides the regular scheduled maintenance every 5k miles. Thought that only applied to high end sports cars
