Thanks! It also feels a little like it wants to shift out of gear--like there is almost no resistance to moving between gears and very little "notch" when you have arrived at the gear selection. Will that "feel" maybe come back with new bushings?

Yeah, I think I like the idea of double sided tape. I'm trying to dream up a way to create a template to even be close to the correct locations of the holes and then try to square them off-- double sided tape sounds like the right way to go.
